Dog Attack And Dog Bite Claims
DOG ATTACK AND DOG BITE CLAIMS
Pet ownership and being around dogs is something most of us love and cherish. It is estimated that there are 8.9 million dogs in the UK, meaning nearly 1 in 4 UK households have one. Most of the time, they cause no problems. However, there are rare occasions where you may be unlucky enough to get attacked.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE BEEN BITTEN BY A DOG
You should always seek medical advice if you have been bitten by a dog and the bite has broken the skin. Dogs have a lot of bacteria in their mouths, which can easily become infected. These infections are rarely serious if they are treated quickly. However, if you delay treatment, they can spread to the blood or other parts of your body.
If you get bitten, we recommend that you try to get the name and address details of the owner and, if possible, details of any pet insurance.
You may want to report the attack to the Dog Warden and find out if the dog has bitten anyone before.
